The State of New Jersey has "New Jersey Seats" for NJ residents at selected Veterinary Schools. The legislature has funded those seats instead of creating our own Veterinary School at Rutgers Cook College. The vet schools will charge New Jersey Residens out of state tutition unless the state legislature will fully fund the Veterinary Medical Education Act of 1971. This amounts to a small amount per student which entitles them to a reduction in tuition which is still higher in most cases than the in state tuition for in state residents. The cost of Veterinary School is around $57,000. per year for four years. The legislature has no idea that the schools are using the partial funding for "admssion NJ seats" and not for reducing the tutition for NJ residents. The schools will reduce the tution if the Veterinary Medical Education Act of 1971 is fully funded. The partial funding occured last year with the CORZINE budget cuts.
